Week 26
2:37 PM
We’re back!
Can’t believe the time that has passed since my last blog entry. Feels like just yesterday – but then when I look at all that has occurred since week 22 I realize that it has indeed been a month. While we were gone we managed to sneak in a maternity shot in the beautiful Mahahual Mexico. You’ll notice that I have grown a bit, and even more so since our return home. As soon as I start getting used to being a particular measurement, Chloe grows. This week has been especially uncomfortable and the Braxton hicks contractions kicked in at week 25 – I might add that they kicked in with full force. Up until a couple of days ago they were only occurring in the evening – now they wake me up at night. Just adds to the fun nightly events of being pregnant – lack of sleep, unable to get comfortable, multiple trips to the bathroom :)
Since my last post, Chloe has grown from 10 inches to over 14 inches and now weights over 2lbs. Need to picture it? She is the size of a lettuce head. She continues to show us that she is a very active little girl and gave me a good hoof to the ribs last night when Jon was talking to her. I think she lept in excitement when she heard his voice. I guess hearing mine all day long does get old :) She now has the ability to move to the rhythm of music…and continues to jump in fright if she is startled by a loud noise. Gabe was resting his little head on my tummy last night and evidentially Chloe knew it as she started wiggling and kicking much to Gabe’s disgust. A moving tummy is a new thing to him :)
Despite the language barrier in Mexico, Chloe did attract a lot of attention. The looks and stares in airports or while we’re walking down the street has definitely increased. There are even a few strangers brave enough to ask when I’m due – I find most people are too scared incase I’m sporting a fat lump instead of a baby!
Big excitement for this coming Monday – we’re having a 4D ultrasound! Finally we will be able to see all the specific details of our little girl…no more guessing which features she inherited. I’ll definitely post the pictures for you all to see – Chloe has quite a world following so I’m sure you’re all just as anxious to see what she looks like. In addition to the ultrasound, I’m having the glucose test to ensure my sugar levels are remaining stable. I don’t doubt they’re on track, but it’s all part of precautionary measures.
Then on Tuesday we begin birthing classes. Much to my surprise Jon is ready and prepared for the 5 week sessions. Guess its coz he’s the support person and not the momma learning about what’s to occur in a few months…!
We’re still lagging on the baby room. BUT we have made progress - this week's maternity shot was taken after my sister finished the murals! YAY finally, the first picture of her room. I’m anxious to get her room done as we’re still storing baby clothes, diapers and gadgets in various places around the house. I’m hoping this weekend we’ll make some good progress as the carpet will finally be in and I have plans to get the furniture for her room.
Again, sorry for the silence – not only were we in remote remote remote Mexico, but our laptop keyboard decided to test the warranty limitations…so Apple has spent the last 5 days scratching their heads as to why the keys gave up the ghost. Can’t do much when you can’t type…
. . . so a little more patience and I promise I'll post the maternity shots. In the meantime, here is one from this week!
