Hello Week 6! Please be kind to me...I hear this is the week you hit with a vengeance. The last week has been torture enough.  Today I put 2 + 2 together and found that my prenatal vitamin is the cause of my bad dose of nausea and therefore my lack of enthusiasm to participate in my own daily life. I feel so much better today.

So things are progressing nicely - I've finally braved it to get back into an exercise routine. It's been a 2 week mental adjustment to this new body of mine. Now that I know the baby will hopefully stay in place, I'm back on the treadmill. Sure, Insanity is completely out the window, but a couple miles on the treadmill each evening is working out just fine.

Up and coming in 8 days is our first ultrasound. I'm getting more and more excited about hearing the baby's heartbeat! Of course at the back of my mind I worry that there's not even a baby! Gosh how often does that happen - and what a complete turkey you would feel! I thought I was the only crazy pregnant woman to think this, but apparently it's a common worry.

Other than driving my hubby crazy with my moodiness and the ban of pretty much most of the food in our house (coz just the thought of it makes me ill ) - things are well :) Jon will probably be losing some weight as he is on a strict chicken only diet as its the only form of meat I can stomach. However the discussion of a live chicken shortly before a meal has the tendency to turn me completely green too. Certain conversations are limited now...Goodness, if things carry on like this, I'll be a complete vegan by December. Wow, I'm telling you, these hormones are crazy!

We have safely made it to week 5!

This is a huge accomplishment as you might well be aware. Little bubs has also been busy growing and forming over the last week and is now the size of an apple seed! As I love a juicy ripe Fuji apple, I have allowed myself to indulge in several apples that last week or so and I've marveled at the size of the seeds within...amazing! Before this point, an apple seed never made me stop and marvel and I have a feeling this is just the beginning of small, yet significant things catching my eye. So far the only symptoms of pregnancy has been a heightened sense of smell - in fact I think I could put a bloodhound to shame! Fatigue and exhaustion have also been really bad. At times I've felt more brain dead. Climbing into bed at 9pm has become something I look forward to all day long!

This week the baby's heart will continue to form and then start beating at a steady rhythm. At my May 3rd appointment we'll hear the heart beat for the first time :)

The chalk board is handmade from scratch. The frame was made out of 100 year old barn wood cut to size. The actual board is 1/4 inch plywood covered in many layers of chalkboard paint. The chalkboard measures 3' by 4' so it quite a lot larger than what it appears in the picture above.

Week by week, as the little babe grows from an appleseed to a cantaloupe, we'll keep you posted in creative ways. Til next time...
