Over the last few weeks we've been watching this mommy bird build her nest, lay her eggs...then lay some more...and today 3 of them hatched! Guess her family is growing by 10 legs...better her than me.
3 out of the 5 baby birds...still waiting for the other 2 to hatch |
This Week so far : The Awesome
- Vacation anticipation! Makes the week go so much slower though…so I’m trying a new tactic of not packing my bags until the last minute. This sure seems to speed up time as my brain is thinking “ it’s Wednesday, we leave at dawn on Saturday and I haven’t even packed my bags yet!!”
- Another vacation one: learning that your upgraded resort room has a pillow menu! This will definitely come in handy now that it’s becoming too uncomfortable to sleep on my tummy.
- A sweet husband who mans the dishwasher – well – mainly because he thinks I’m useless at loading it J
- Flipping a coin for household chores – he got dinner and I got to put away 3 weeks of clean laundry. I think he won.
- My growing belly! Yes, I am embracing the changes, finally J and continuing to lather on the mustella! For some reason I can only stand the scent of mustella in the morning – so evening latherings are out.
- Rediscovering "the pillow nest" - my mom would always make a nest for us when we were kids - for some reason there is nothing better than a pillow nest to snuggle into when going to sleep. As my sleeping positions are definitely changing I'm finding a new level of sleep by indulging in a mountain of pillows!
- USBank assigned me my own prenatal nurse! Sometimes working for a bank is not a bad thing :) Her name is Kathy - and I asked her every question under the sun and kept her on the phone for 45 minutes. I now have her direct line to call at any time - pity she wouldn't give me her cell phone number!
The not so Awesome
- Unexpectedly having to donate an extra vial of blood on Monday. Yip. Not good. My poor vein had only just recovered from the 5 previous vials.
- Discovering that side sleeping makes my arm go to sleep…who’s arm is on me?! Oh – its mine.
- My gullet is not accepting food in the same manner – I feel like I’m still choking on my dinner at breakfast time.
- 1am pee runs. I’ve already mastered the blind walk from the bed to the bathroom – obstacles and all. No broken toes or shins yet. I hope I haven’t just jinxed myself?
- The boys (otherwise known as our Yorkies) were both sick this week - they also had to donate blood at thier vet visit. Their injections made them sicker - makes me really wonder about live vaccines...
As I mentioned, it’s almost time for baby’s first trip to Mexico! While there our little babe will be measuring the size of a LIME! Just a reminder that that umbrella drink with a slice of lime is no longer – try a cold glass of ice water, with a slice of lime instead. Or perhaps I’ll treat myself to a coke with lime…big holiday splurge J I also read this week that at 10-11 weeks the little baby can develop their first bout of hiccups! How neat.
As soon as we return, I'll post some holiday pics to share with you all. I'll see if we can squeeze in some tummy pics as I'm sure this belly will be growing while we're relaxing. If not growing from baby - then growing from too many taco's, burrito's and all things Mexican...yum.
I'll see you next time.
